
Suicide Prevention & Awareness: Older Adults in Focus
Course Overview
Suicide is a major issue that has a tremendous impact on individuals, families, and the healthcare and science community. This program is designed to reduce stigma through education, share resources, provide support, and recognize the importance of our ability to be there for each other.
Course Objectives
Accurately identify patients at risk for suicide and effectively screen.
Detect warning signs of at-risk patients and assess how to intervene.
Recognize the warning signs of mental health challenges and suicide.
Learn how to talk about suicide, and refer individuals to the appropriate resources.
Analyze three specific warning signs of suicidal ideation in physicians, distinguishing them from general signs of depression
Develop strategies to create a culture of well-being in healthcare settings for at-risk physicians
Evaluate case studies and expert consensus to illustrate key examples of physician-specific warning signs of suicidal ideation
Target Audience
Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, first responders, Residents/Fellows, and Medical Students from all specialties.
