Course Overview
This CME course focuses on the critical aspects of opioid prescribing and the management of substance use disorder in pain management. Participants will explore evidence-based guidelines for prescribing opioids safely, recognizing the risks of addiction, and alternative pain management strategies. The course emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach, integrating clinical education on screening, intervention, and support for patients with substance use disorders.
Course Objectives
Apply evidence-based criteria for initiating opioid therapy.
Evaluate risk factors for opioid misuse, SUD, and overdose.
Implement best practices for monitoring chronic opioid therapy.
Use multimodal, non-opioid, and interventional alternatives appropriately.
Meet state and federal regulatory and documentation requirements.
